I have to wonder what in the wiring and cooling of the setup they got so incredibly wrong for it to do this. Electric headlights have been with us for well over a hundred years - it’s almost a kind of genius to fuck up this bad.

Have you had the wiring looked at, even a diagnostic volt meter should be telling you if something is wrong.

Aw man, for a few shining moments, all was good.

Fiat has also been making this van in other markets since 2006. You would think they would have it figured out by now.

it’s probably shock/vibration killing them. any wiring issue would likely reduce the voltage and current to the bulb and actually prolong its life.

When dodge was “making” the dart, they had to delay it due to electrical issues. Given that the dart was a re-bodied alfa/fiat chassis, either a) dodge engineers fucked up electrical work while putting on a new body. Or b) fiat/alfa romeo gave that few fucks about electrical quality.

nope they are all in a state of permanently breaking something...somehow... it hilarious and impressive... when its your workfleet and you dont have to pay for it
hell we had one come in to park up for the day but it was making an odd rattling noise.. as we walked up to it to have a looksee it spat out an engine pulley

Known issue it’s the actual socket really bad design i f you Google it every owner has it. I’ve already had the entire headlight assemblies replaced and they blew the same month. Typically you find tbe bulb laying in the assembly it shakes and around blows. If i rig up a ziptie to keep it snug I get like double the longevity.

Company car not by choice. Can’t believe they approve the repairs but they do...

I’m ashamed to say that this is the first thing that popped into my head upon reading “bomp bomp bomp”. It doesn’t even make sense for a Promaster (one of the least sexy things ever to come out of FCA, IMO).

I saw an ad for ProMaster vans on YouTube (ad on something I was watching), and it had all these lines about reliability and dependability but it was all slight of hand referring to
the people who own them
. Not once actually even saying that the van was reliable. Nice.

Lol. That’s insane in this day and age.
I guess it is a Fiat then, Fix It Again Tomorrow.

We have two of these vans at my company. The newest one has gone through 3 bulbs on the driver’s side since the beginning of last year. The nylock nuts that hold the door catches have all backed off on both vans. They are dreadful from a fleet standpoint.

My beautiful, overengineered, E34 melts headlight sockets if I used anything brighter than a standard 55W bulb. If strange things like that happen to good vehicles I'm not in the least bit surprised if/when it happens on an FCA product...

B oth door stopper things are snapped and stripped . . long long time ago.

Ours came off the door not the door frame, so multiple points of failure within 6 inches of each other.

Your van will probably look like this in a few months. Just natural disintegration.

I have 2 holes in the passenger side headlight where the bulb stayed hooked up and on but rattled out of the lens and burned it’s way right through to above the wheel well. Fun times. Extra watts my be just what I need to burn th is thing to the ground once and for all.

Given Chrysler’s and Fiat’s track records, I’m gonna say both A and B are correct.

Demuro should buy one of these and see how high he can run up repair bills. I bet he could leave his Rover in the dust

When I get rid of it I plan to detail the total but I’m at roughly $40000 dollars of repairs in 4 years some of that includes maintenance they snuck in to pad the bills while it was trapped at the dealership (all fleet cars get bills racked up they see $ signs when they see thrm ) but I bet 25-30k is legit broken stuff and the labor it took to repair it.
